Vision: A radical commitment to Outreach / Inreach / Upreach

Cedar Grove Mennonite Church exists to glorify God with our lives as followers of Christ, using every resource He has given us to share the Gospel in word and deed, locally and globally.

This purpose statement flows from Jesus’ command to love God supremely and others as ourselves (Mark 12:29-31), and from Jesus’ commission for the church (Matthew 28:18-20). We believe the Gospel is the promise of new life in Jesus Christ – the Hope of the world – God’s One and Only Son.

We are committed to being a church that extends God’s blessing through relationships we share with others in our schools, our neighborhoods, our community organizations, and our workplaces. We are committed to joining God’s work in the larger, global community through our partnership with persons around the world, including Mennonite Church-related mission/service organizations.

We believe that God has called us to pursue a three-part strategy for mission and ministry, which we’ve described as:

Outreach – Sharing the life-changing message of the Gospel and the love of Christ in word and deed so that people without Christ would become His fully-devoted followers.

Inreach – Devoting ourselves to the spiritual transformation of every person so that their lives increasingly reflect the life of Christ, and equipping them to share their faith, thereby enabling them to reproduce the life of Jesus in others.

Upreach – Exalting our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in worship as an Anabaptist community of believers through the use of contemporary and traditional expressions of praise, thanksgiving, prayer, and the proclamation of God’s Word.

Our Primary Ministry Objectives

1. To introduce non-believers to Jesus Christ
2. To develop holistic ministries that express God’s mercy, justice, and love for the world
3. To engage believers in ministries that foster transformation and discipleship to Christ
